midterm
1. What grade have you earned so far and why? Do not rationalize or make excuses if you are not doing so well. YOU are responsible for your grades.
I think I deserve a B. This a very new type of art for me and a little hard to digest but I think I am doing a pretty good job. I turn in the assignments and I have found myself truly interested in a lot of the videos and sites that we visit. However, due to the time restraints of other AFO classes I admit that I have not completley poured myself into the assignments nor have I explored and really dug into the programs we’ve discussed.
2. What is the most interesting or important thing you’ve learned so far in your class?
I’ve learned (or am starting to learn) how a video works as a composition. I’m so used to painting and drawing that when I started this class it was hard for me to see the artwork in many videos. Now, like in 2-d art, I see how things such as repitition, flow, mood, and color all work together to make successful pieces. I have also begun to understand how much actually goes on in the internet. Before I had my facebook, email, google, etc- and didn’t really do much else. Now I want to find those cool sites and videos we see in class.
3. What is one area within the class that you can work on improving. Even if you give yourself an “A” there should be room for some kind of improvement.
I would say I am improving on working on this blog. At first I was really turned off by the idea of keeping a blog because I pictured it like some kind of xanga or livejournal. And I’ve just always thought of those things as kind of self righteous and presumptuous to think the whole world cares about the daily going ons or your day. But tumblr is cool because a lot of people post fascinating videos, pictures, and text. So you get an idea of the person without knowing all about their problems and drama. I find myself wanting to add cool things to my tumblr.
